When We Are Singing

David Byrne

I saw David Byrne at Coachella back in April. His show was captivating — it’s a more refined version of what he was doing on American Utopia. The completely wireless band is still cool, and the show feels extremely polished at this point.

Speaking of people mellowing out over time, you definitely notice that when he plays the old Talking Heads tracks they seem almost like Vegas review versions at this point, but I mean when you’ve been playing those tracks for 50 years I’m sure you’ve buffed out all of the rough edges. So I actually thought the modern songs were more interesting in my opinion.

And this is one of the standouts from his newest album.

One song per day. Two hundred words or less.
