Rückert-Lieder : Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen

I’ll admit it’s a bit usual to start the weekend off on such a somber note, but this song has stuck with me since I watched Jarmusch’s Coffee and Cigarettes a few weeks back. In the final vignette, called Champagne, two older gentleman are chatting during a coffee break at the factory, when one stops and says “do you hear that?” And this is the song that’s playing.

It’s a haunting scene for a movie that is well crafted, but otherwise not really tugging at any emotional strings throughout.
