Lypso Illusion

A few weeks back, I was scrolling through my YouTube feed, looking for something to pass the time between work calls, when I spotted a Charlie Dark talk at 180 Studios focused on Theo Parrish. So I threw it on, mostly in the background, and about an hour in, he played this record. The b-side of Stephen Encinas’s sole 12" release. A house track from a label famous for Soca music called Kalinda, and featuring local, unknown musicians from Trinidad and Tobago.

Charlie calls this type of track “seek and you will be rewarded”. So keep an eye out for this while you’re digging, and don’t forget to play the b-sides.
