Planet Shining

Anyway while doing research on m-flo, Planet Shining was indicated as one of the good starting points from a hip hop perspective. Imagine my surprise when this was the fourth track on the album. I knew this couldn’t be the original sample because there was way too much instrumentation going on, but maybe I could check the liner notes and see if they left sample details. And can you believe it, they actually did.

Not sure that this story really required 3 different posts to tell, but hey whatever.

Anyway here’s an interesting tidbit about m-flo, Verbal one of the rappers on the track was a part of Teriyaki Boyz who probably many know from Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift or if you’re a big Neptunes fan you’ll know through their collabs. Also, he is the cofounder of fashion brand AMBUSH.

M-flo’s 10th full length LP comes out next month.
