Been thinking about the through line between Memphis and Houston rap of the mid 90s to that sound’s unlikely resurgence through the Phonk and soundclound movements going back to things like A$AP Rocky’s first tape and Yung Lean and more recently has started to heat up again thanks to those Ryan Celsius mixtapes. This track is an example of the latter.
