Crosseyed and Painless - Live in Rome 1980

I went back and forth on which version of this song to post, but I feel like this is peak Talking Heads. The version that appears on Stop Making Sense is more polished and sounds fantastic with the most recent remaster, but this performance is just electric.

Starting with that absolutely insane bassline from Busta Jones, then moving to the synth work by Parliament-Funkadelic’s Bernie Worell, and ending up with some sick guitar tones from King Crimson’s Adrian Belew. All of which happens before the song even gets going.

Truly unfortunate that we never got a proper Heads reunion tour, but c’est à la vie.
