This is an album made by Shawn Phillips of Starving Artists Crew about moving away from his home of Detroit Michigan and venturing on to the future. This was crafted as a tribute to his home city, recruiting local musicians to help craft the beats throughout the tracklist. Really cool article by the groups DJ about the making of this album here.
As someone who has relocated a bunch throughout life and is currently writing this from an airport bar while my flight gets continually delayed, this song in particular has always connected with me. Always feels like I’m moving on to the next. Maybe I’m just getting old and the constant grind of travel is starting to wear me down. I can’t be everywhere at once.
But that’s a therapy session for another day.
