So a very long time ago (5 years ago) I bought a copy of Pacific Breeze: Japanese City Pop, AOR and Boogie 1976–1986. One of the standout tracks was Yasuko Agawa’s “L.A. Night”. I thought this was kind of a perfect example of Japanese City Pop from the 80s, what I didn’t realize is that this song is actually a response/part 2 of a song that had already charted previously. Even produced by the same person - Augie Johnson.
