Death Jazz! Honestly at this point I can’t even remember where I learned about Soil and “PIMP” Sessions. I want to say on maybe the something awful forums a long long time ago in a thread about Japanese music. Definitely helped to scratch the itch of wanting some songs similar to the vibe of Tank! By Yoko Kano/the seatbelts The theme song from the much lauded anime for people who don’t like anime Cowboy Bebop. Could go into a separate tangent about how many of the songs from that soundtrack are straight up rip offs of other songs, which really dampened my initial love of that soundtrack.

Anyway, back to S&PS. This song is fantastic, feels so frenetic, urgent and fun at the same. The horns do a lot of the heavy lifting here but this track allows the piano, bass, and drums plenty of time to shine. Also who couldn’t love Shacho screaming into a megaphone bringing everything together. If you ever happen to be in Japan and they are playing, it’s worth figuring out how to navigate the confusing a f Lawson ticketing website and making it happen.
