Need
Midrift
I think the kids are alright.
Two nights ago, we saw Midrift, a band from SF, play a packed show at Polaris in North Portland. We weren’t the oldeest folks at the venue, but we were close. It was very much a glimpse into a scene that I’m no longer part of. Familiar sounds from two decades past. They even covered a Title Fight song.
Watching a raw, up-and-coming band like this play to a room of bouncing bodies and a near endless stream of stage dives reminded me of what it was like to see shows in my teens and twenties. Where every song was the best I’d ever heard. Every show was an epic night. It’s a feeling I chase to this day. And these kids had found it here.
Enough words from me. Go stare are your shoes.
