I saw Andy Shauf at Neumos in late February 2020. If you’re following along and doing some quick back-of-napkin math at home you’re probably now realizing that Seattle locked down a few days later. I listened to The Neon Skyline a lot in those early days at home and grew to love his story songs both as vignettes, and for their thematic sum when listening to each of his albums as a whole. You’d be wrong to think of Foxwarren as Shauf goes electric. 2 does something more - incorporating sampling and audio collage in a genre where that is somewhat atypical.
