Breathe
The Prodigy
A few months ago I flew down to San Francisco to see the Prodigy. I have been a fan ever since renting Wipeout XL on the original playstation and hearing Firestarter for the first time and being completely blown away. Me and a friend had tickets to go see them in New York back in 2018, but the show was unfortunately cancelled due to the passing of Keith Flint. So, when this opportunity came up I knew immediately I had to make that trip.
I arrived in the venue, bought a drink and set up in the back of the floor. I was about halfway finished before the opening swells of Breathe hit the PA system, I knew in that moment I had to make a choice. I spilt the remains on the ground and allowed myself to be swallowed by the pit for the next hour and a half. I re-emerged covered in beer, sweat, my custom earplugs broken, and with a joy that I hadn’t felt in ages. Completely rejuvenated. In that moment I remembered why I still go to concerts.
