Static on the Wire

I go to a lot of concerts, like a lot a lot, so many of my stories will start with a concert experience of some kind. I’ve seen LCD Soundsystem the most out of any band ever, I’ve lost track of the amount of times, but has to be nearing 20 at this point. I’m sure I will write about them at some point, but this story is only tangentially related to them. The first show of theirs I saw was on the This is Happening Tour at Terminal 5 in NYC. The opener was this band I had never heard of called Holy Ghost! And it turned out it was their first live show ever. I was pretty blown away and ended up following their entire career up until their last release which was 2019’s Work. Static on the wire is one of those songs that has all of the elements you want from a 2000’s era indie blog dance cut, nice harmonies, solid baselines and synth programming. I still find myself humming this one randomly even now almost 16 years later.
